It's NOT their fault!

Today I nearly ran over a dog and in the process almost crashed my car

I am driving along, doing a respectable 30 miles an hour in a built up area, when this dog just ran into my path from the pavement. Luckily, I managed to screech to a halt and avoided what could have been a nasty accident.

The owner then proceeded to whack hell out of this poor dog, with no regard to it being her fault. The dog was on one of these long leads which was not pulled in and so giving it ample length to go wherever it chose.

I was soooo angry and pulled the car over and asked why she felt the need to hit the dog, when in fact it was her fault She told me in no uncertain terms to mind my own f......ng business!!!

Re: It's NOT their fault!

What a nice lady! Sounds bad but the poor dog would have been better off getting run over then living with a stupid owner. Like it will ever want to come back to that sort of handling and how flipping rude not to thank you for stopping in the first place.

Really think there should be an owner course for all animals before people are allowed them.

Hope your ok as i have had that done to me and i was nearly sick i thought i had hit it but the bloke was very nice and could not say sorry enough, we lived down a lane and you came off a roundabout at a funny angle his dog was not on a lead and just ran across the junction as i turned in thought it was under my car as i could not see it but it had run back when he called, its horrid.

Someone should do the same to her for using a flexi like that, near roads.

Re: It's NOT their fault!

What an awful thing to happen. I expect you were very shaken up.
The least the owner could have done was appologise to you and admit responsability. If that had been me, I would have been so grateful that both you and the dog were o.k., I just dont understand why she hit the poor dog ........words fail me.
Hope you have rcovered now.
Chris

Re: It's NOT their fault!

We have some people near us with 2 dogs on those extendable leads always getting them muddeled up, i think they are an acciedent waiting to happen and they always have the leads fully extended, seems a bit barmy to me, they have no control at all over where the dogs walk.

Re: It's NOT their fault!

Glad the dog is okay, but what an awful thing to come back to! IF Bess had a near death situation and it had been my fault I would be cuddling her tight and thanking the driver so much for stopping. Also apologising.
what a horrid person, you should of got out of the car and said "Wash your motuh out fishwife before i do it first" P

Re: It's NOT their fault!

A similar thing happened to me a few years ago, a bloke was walking along a busy road with his springer spaniel completely off-lead. The dog must have spotted something interesting across the road and ran straight over... luckily there was no passing traffic. When the owner finally caught the dog he whipped it with the metal chain lead he had in his hand causing the poor thing to yelp so loudly...

Some brave old lady went over and told him it was uncalled for. He was a big bloke and I put my head down and carried on to work, I've always regretted not going over and whacking him myself poor pooch. I came home that day and joined the RSPCA trying not to think about what he'd do in his own house if he was willing to do that in public. With all the bad reports I've heard on here though I'm wondering if my money would be better spent elsewhere...

It wasn't even a flexi, it was a long line! Words completely failed me. The poor dog looked totally bemused!
