Sod thing? If you mean he can be a little sod, then yes. But I wouldn't have him any other way!

Re: Are you a fair weather walker?

I am with Breeze! If it's absolutely pouring she absolutely does not want to go and will dig her heels in! If I can coax her she just gets a shorter walk but sometimes she decides to be a madam.
Scooter doesn't care so he goes out in all weathers, I don't mind so long as I've got my wellies and mac on.

Unfortunately the rest of my family ARE fair weather walkers so I never know quite how many walks they miss when I'm at uni It's just a good job that Suffolk has such a low rainfall.

Re: Are you a fair weather walker?

Biscuit loves the cold, snow and rain alike so we've been out in everything. I've got rubber boots for rain and snowboots too. We had a bitter cold winter - snow up to my knees and days where it was -30C with the windchill and Biscuit didn't feel it at all. One morning was so cold I had to come home and put my daughter's snow pants on and an extra scarf round my head. The snow had melted down a bit and then refroze so we were walking on top of it. I felt rather superior and warrior like marching through the park in my blue parka and hot pink snowpants lol.

She has not been loving the heat though so her walks haven't been as long on hot days. My OH took her by the lake last week and she jumped right in, the water is still very cold so the bacteria isn't high yet. I don't know if it will be easier in the heat now that she's had her top coat shaved off OR if she'll be cold if she goes for a swim. But once the kids finish school next week I'll be able to take her out earlier before the sun gets high. She loves her walks.

And as has already been pointed out, not many people are out there when the weather is bad, I can splash with her in the puddles or march like a middle aged idiot and no one will see.

Re: Are you a fair weather walker?

ooo this is tricky

I'm not a FWW, i love being outside no matter what the weather says, always have and always will.

Tummel on the other hand, can be. He hates rain. Not the light drizzle/summer shower etc but full on scottish rain he detests(yes...this is my half lab hating rain) and will only run out for the toilet, i end up dragging him for a walk and can't let him offlead as he runs back to the house wimp that he is. So now when we have a storm/heavy downpour we just let him out to the toilet, he just sleeps through the day. He's the same with wind...anything other than a small gust and no chance is he going out hates it.

My dog is a total wimp but he doesn't seem to mind not being walked when the weathers bad it's like he knows he's chosen not to get out

Re: Are you a fair weather walker?

I'm not but the cavs dont do rain and as they are mostly old i dont drag them out if really wet.As i live in Wales it seems to be an awful lot of the time. The collie and Aussie go out regardless as Koda would drive me mad without a good run.

No, No not calling Jet a sod! He's lovely.
I meant this thing that is known as Sod's Law, e.g. when it can be completely sunny and then you get ready to go out for a lovely walk and it hisses down the moment you're out! As I said it always happens to me and I never have waterproofs on.
One time it happened and I was with a friend who was only wearing thin trousers as it was sunny, then suddenly the wind blew up and it hailed violently. She was dancing about and shrieking cos it hurt! The dogs thought we'd gone mad!!

Re: Are you a fair weather walker?

I'm sure somebody up there doesn't like me, coz it was fine when we went out. Then a couple of mins after leaving the shop it rained so hard, the lane flooded in parts.
Then, guess what! We'd been home less than 5 mins and it stopped and didn't rain again all day. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Re: Are you a fair weather walker?

considering I was out in the pouring rain (and my god it was coming down!) at 645 this morning then no!! lol!

Mooky doesn't really like the rain he trots quickly as if to say ok lets get this over and done with and get home quick.

Bella loves the rain, infact the more rain the more she loves it

I honestly don't mind the weather, I don't like being wet and cold but it means I get the walks to myself

Re: Are you a fair weather walker?

Not at all!

One of my most favourite walks with Scout recently ended up being really wet!

The two of us headed off on a dry but cloudy Saturday morning. The forecast predicted light showers, but was way off, about 20 minutes into the walk, it started hammering it down, and continued the whole way. Two hours later we arrived back home, thoroughly soaked, the rain had gotten under my waterproofs, I had to change all of my clothes, even undies!

Despite that, it was a really fun walk. Once both of us had soaked through our clothes/fur, there was no point worrying about it anymore and we proceded to run through the long grass and splash in all the puddles!

I must've looked a sight walking back up my street though, lol

Re: Are you a fair weather walker?

Just had a soaking walk ourselves - total clothes change and into the bath for Henry - that's our second soaking of the day!
