Re: The British Bulldog
Oh dear there is no way I could even pay £700. That is a little worrying. WHat is so good about them being Kennel Club regestered. I dont really feel the need to have a dog which resembles the breed perfectly, I wont be showing it or anything. Does it usually mean they are healthier and have been checked and tested for illness and heriditary disease etc.
Are there any cheaper dogs with similar temperaments and energy/exercise levels? |

Bulldog Rescue
It's important to buy from health checked parents to avoid any heartache in the future. - It's worth speaking to an experienced owner/breeder to ensure you know which tests should of been carried out on this breed. Have you thought about rescuing an older dog - I've posted the link for a British bulldog rescue. Or how about a shih tzu, they have a loving temperment and have been bred to be a companion so do not need tons of exercise. Their fur does grow long so will need to be taken to the groomers every couple of months to have a hair cut. |

Re: The British Bulldog
We have a bulldog and now I would never have another breed - ours has totally won me over, bless him! I agree with the others re: price. You will not get a pure bred bulldog for £500! I would say £1500 is the minimum you will pay and up to about £2500 depending on lineage. Watch out for scams - it happens to a lot of people. Good luck.
Cleaning wrinkles only takes a few minutes each day, just makes sure they are kept clean and dry. |

Re: The British Bulldog
Hmm
I have considered rescueing an older dog but I amfraid for us it is out of the question. We need a young puppy because our cats are not at all keen on dogs, even if the dog likes them so we are going to need an 8 week old puppy so that it is no threat. But I would prefer to get one from an animal shelter if they have any 8 week old puppies suitable |

Re: The British Bulldog
Hmm, to be honest I am not too keen on the look of shih tzus, I dont dislike them but I would really choose one. Maybe a cross breed one. I am so keen on the bulldog but really disapionted about the fact they are so expensive as anything aboove £700 is really out of the question.

Re: The British Bulldog
If you are really set on being a British Bull dog owner it may be that you have to open a savings account and keep saving a little longer and get one next year.
But with any breed you need to make sure you can keep up the insurance premiums which will increase as the dog gets older and pay out for any care that is not covered by the insurance. I wish you luck in finding your perfect companion. ![]() |
