Lol it's coming from working lines with a view to O/H working her when she's old enough.
The majority of these breeders dock as you know, as there dogs are bred to work

I know you can't show a docked dog where the GP pay an entry fee,but there is a huge difference now between the working Springer and Show Springer, same with the Cockers,it's like two different breeds lol

Tell me about it the welsh there isnt so much difference in at the mo but now they have enforced the split in the working/showing then they may just change as well.

Good luck with the working side though, the welsh springer club run a training day nearly every fortnight in Gwent from puppy upwards

I sit on the fence lol
O/H wants a docked pup because he's seen first hand the damage done to dogs tails while they are working.

Re: Strange to want a puppy with a docked tail

i dont think its a strange question ,i still get lots of enquierys for docked dogs purely as pets and this pees me off ,but if your going to work it its fine ,i know this is one of the worst breeds for damaging there tails in the field, lol i get really annoyed as i show so i no longer dock ,but my dogs still enjoy pretending to work

Re: Strange to want a puppy with a docked tail

i still can't get used to seeing poodles with tails..they looked much better when they were docked..but having said that,i never knew that docking tails was painfull.

Re: Strange to want a puppy with a docked tail

My setter Zoe has a bald patch on the end of her tail from constantly wagging her tail and hitting things with it Also the greyhounds regulary cut their tails banging it on a wall in fact Button has the very tip of her tail missing.

Having seen what my dogs have done just in the house I can well imagine the damage a working dog could do to its tail.

I have also been told by my vet that he may not be able to take the dew claws of my whippet pups any more as they are trying to also make that illegal
