Re: Adivde please :)

Bichon's I hear are very bright dogs so need stimulation............... We have a Yorkie and he seems to do fine with either little or lots of exercise, depending on what is happening that particular day - he's quite smart and picked up training quite well (toilet and day to day stuff like sit, leave it).

What about a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - our friend one and she just lazes about all day.

Re: Adivde please :)

I adore CKS but I heard they are quite energetic and have a multitude of health problems

Hmm, I am really having trouble finding a suitable breed

Any suggestions welcome!

Have you thought of a border terrier they are a nice size easy mantinence like a bit of exercise and are good family pets. they are generally a very healthy breed. They also go through the teething a little earlier than some other breeds.

Re: Adivde please :)

Hmm, I literally rules out terriers at the start due to exercise needs. I loive them, they are wonderful little dogs and I adore their personal;ities, my friend has one but they need a good amount of exercise.

Here, this is what I generally need in a dog:

Low maintenance generally, I dont mind grooming but dont want a dog that needs hours each day
Low exercise needs - I donit have time to go on long walks, I have a back garden and lots of parks near me fortunatly but I would still like a dog that could get most of its exercise through play and running about the house and garden
Small
Friendly

I read that cavaliers dont need much exercise and can adapt to your energy level
I also did a bunch of quizzes for fun to see what they said and they all came out with a bichon frise for me
I also like pugs but I would only gert one if it was cross

Re: Adivde please :)

I have just spent the last hour having a look at breeds.

It seems that the bulldog is a wonderful dog. It does not liked to much exercise and is very friendly. It is not generally the type of dog I would usually go for however it does seem nice and inactive indorrs which would be perfect for me.

This part of your post concerns me somewhat all dogs need exercise big or small breeds,it's also important for socialisation that they have exercise away from there house and garden.

Well our new baby ,Dora, is the sweetest little Daxie, and I have to say one of the most 'knowing' pups we have ever had. I know its early days yet but so far she is perfect, our youngest g.children are 8,7 & 5and she is as happy as Larry playing with them.
I too heard that they were stubborn, hard to get clean oh and the most dangerous breed in the country. Well no sign of it so far, I haven't even heard her bark yet

Re: Adivde please :)

@sallyanne I understand why it would concern you. I know that it is important especially when dogs are puppies to take them out to lots of places and to meet dogs and make sure they are socialized properly and offcourse I am going to do this. I just dont want to get a dog that has high exercise and energy because it would not be right for us and I have made the mistake of rushing into buying a dog in the past and paid for it which was heartbreaking which I never want to happen again.
