Thinking of changing to James Wellbeloved

HI all,

Cookie is currently fed on Eukanuba (think thats spelts right!) he has been fed on it since he was weaned and we have carried it on. The problem is he doesnt really enjoy it although hes doing ok on it, I had a free sample of James Wellbeloved and mixed a tiny bit with his normal and he wolfed it down usually takes him a while to eat if he can be bothered!!! So am thinking of changing to this. Cookie is a Labrador puppy so I know Iill have to continue feeding a large breed type and Ive seen they do this. Any advice or comments from people who have used this .

Thanks
K-A

Yep, it's very good. My last dog, a boxer, thrived on it. Now we give it to our new Labradoodle. Change over slowly though to get his little tum used to it.

Oscar's breeder was feeding him Eukanuba. He also didn't like it. I've started mixing JWB with Eukanuba to get his tummy used to the new dry food. He LOVES LOVES LOVES the JWB. It's cheaper and comes in different varieties - turkey, fish etc. I'm going to wean him off the Eukanuba but slowly.

Re: Thinking of changing to James Wellbeloved

Ben eats nothing but James Wellbeloved. He's a rescue dog and from what Wood Green managed to get from his old owner, apparently he eats anything (he's a labrador so very true) but anything other than JW upsets his tummy something chronic. Not sure if his old owner's just didn't notice that other dog foods gave him constipation and the like, or whether having his bits chopped off affected him (I've heard it can, sometimes) but, either way, he has JW and he LOVES it. Well, he loves most other things too, but he doesn't get them.

I have heard that as Labs get older, their usual inbreeding problems start to show up in the form of joints, eyes and tummies, but if you keep him on a good quality food early on it should help. JW has no artifical ingredients either, which is good.

Be warned though - Ben has two bowls a day and a big bag costs £43 where I live. Lasts about 5-6 weeks. So it can work out expensive if you are buying a mixture of pouches and dry - although I would recommend looking looking in Pets at Home because they usually have deals on James Wellbeloved like buy 2 small bags get the third free. Usually, I buy a big bag but if they have got deals on I work out how many Kg I'm getting with the deal compared to the big bag and go from there.

One other thing is the seafood flavour gives Ben awful wind.Would advise feeding this is small quantities to check it doesn't have the same affect on Cookie, too!

Yep, I would totally agree Eukanuba has a lot of protein which if given to pet dogs rather than working dogs, can make them hyperactive.

also, correct me if I am wrong peeps, but isn't eukanuba made by Protor & Gamble?

Re: Thinking of changing to James Wellbeloved

If you are prefering to feed dry then IMO Arden Grange, Burns, and JWB are probably the best mid price ranged food available,

Is there a specific reason for changing your dogs food??? coz I would say if it ain't broke don't fix it, and remember always remember the introduce the new food gradually.
regards
sue

We feed Monty JWB and he loves it. He's on turkey and rice and within a few minutes its gone!
