Vikki, Royal Canin and James Wellbeloved is a good balanced diet. Personally, I strongly believe in giving natural foods also.

My dog loved raw carrots, and he always had our left overs (we are both veggies, so he also had his regular diet which included meat).

Always remember however, to adjust his/her diet accordingly, as an overweight dog is an unhealthy dog.
