Discover Dogs

Hi all

Anyone been to discover dogs? Im thinking of taking my daughter who is 8. Can she get up close and personal with the dogs? She loves dogs and at the moment we cant have one due to my allergies. There are a few breeds id like to road test for a reaction and thought I could do so here?

Is anyone else planning to go?

Hi Melanie,

I'm not planning to go but can comment on the allergy side, I suffer from fur allergy in most breeds. However, we have a Bishon Frise and i have no allergy at all with him. You need to try and be around one dog at a time otherwise there maybe dander and dust in the air which can set the allergy off.

Re: Discover Dogs

We went 2 dicovery dogs a few years ago - my son was 10 - we spoke to loads of breeders about there dogs and my son got in the pens with some of them, in fact he spent about 2 hours in with the schipperkes.
There are also loads of stalls and some great displays in the arena. I would definately recomend it your daughter will have a great time.
However due to the fact it's indoors and there are hundreds of different dogs I don't think you would really get true picture if you were having an allergic reaction.

Re: Discover Dogs

We were going but cant now due to bad asthma, always happens in the Autumn. Everything goes on hold for a while till the steroids start working. I think it's going to be realy good this year. Our dog trainer will be there with his Southern Retrevers display. He always lets children meet the dogs so your little girl can get to stroke them Melanie, they are beautiful calm dogs. Hope you enjoy it.
