Kind of a strange request, not expecting too many replies. My friend's birthday is coming up, and I want to get her something unique as a present. She loves golden retrievers, but unfortunately she's unable to own one at the moment. I posted on a Golden retriever site and asked if anyone had any advice on what to give someone who loves golden retrievers but can't own one. I mentioned that my ideal gift would be a photo of a golden retriever next to a poster or piece of paper that says "Happy Birthday Livia!" (Livia is my friend's name).

On the Golden Retriever Forum someone was kind enough to actually take a photo of their dog next to a "Happy Birthday Livia!" message. It was perfect, just what I wanted for a strange and unique present. Basically, I want more photos like that, so i thought I'd try here too.

So, if anyone out there is kind enough to post online a photo of a golden retriever which features the words "Happy Birthday Livia!" (it can just be scribbled on a sheet of paper, just as long as she knows it's for her), then I will donate £3 to charity for each picture. At this point most likely Dogs Trust, a charity which helps re-home dogs.

I know this is a bit weird,and I may well not get any replies, but lots of these photos would make for a really strange and nice birthday gift for my friend, plus you get to help out a really worthwhile charity. So thanks for any replies.

I would imagine you could get many nice pics off the internet and photo shop a message into them..

There is a golden retriever forum if you google which has goldens from the US, Canada, UK, Germany etc on I'm sure a few would do it there too.

Rupert couldn't be arsed to hold it today the greedy bugger he just wanted to shred the paper

I'm afraid his is in need of a brush but to do that he wouldn't be very co operative so you got a bit of a tatty looking Rupert

I think he looks really quite ugly in this one, and fat. He wasn't lying down properly he was ready to pounce on a treat I'd balanced in the bush to the right

Aw thank you so much goldenshadow, those are fantastic, and I think your dog looks great in both pictures. That's amazing of you to do that.

Oh and I know I could just get pictures of random dogs and photoshop a message onto them, but the point is kind of to have birthday messages specifically for her from real people. If I do it myself it wouldn't really work.

Oh and your dog is beautiful too babycham2002! It would be amazing if you could send a picture with a "Happy Birthday Livia!" message too, I'd be so grateful. Just as long as Willow can manage on such a full stomach So far I'm up to £12 owed to the charity. I'd love to give more in exchange for more photos!
