Puppy Food

Hi all,

Just brought Monty for his final jab and microchip and asked the vet a few questions.

The breeder was feeding him Bakers Puppy food and we have heard it's bad for the dog. The vet said it's like feeding him McDonalds each day

He did suggest a few brands to buy but they seem expensive so we want to make sure we buy the right one.

What's everyone's view on Iams? Hills? Pro Plan? James Wellbeloved?

Look forward to the replies!

Darren

Re: Puppy Food

Bakers is possibly one of the worst foods you can feed,it's like giving a kid smarties

We feed our two on Burns, they have done well on it with very few upset tums
Dog Food Range from Burns Pet Nutrition

Darren

Bakers is plain awful. I am amazed that it was recommended

I feed my cats James Wellbeloved and our dog has Arden Grange. Both are extremely good. Remember that Iams test on animals though.

Re: Puppy Food

Our new pup came to us eating Rayal Canin and I DO like this brand, but am thinking of gradually changing her over to Burns in time. The reason being the 'animal testing' debate. Its a shame because I have used it for many years with my cats before the company was taken over by Mars, but in all conscience I dont want to buy it any more.

Re: Puppy Food

Have to say - your vet is spot on!!! If you really insist on feeding dry go for a good quality one - mid priced - Arden Grange Burns etc.

Myself there is NO competetion - I always feed wet - NaturesDiet - which I feel is as close to natural as you can get.

Sue

Re: Puppy Food

Thanks for the replies so far, can't wait to change it now! Feel guilty that the breeder was feeding him that.

What's your view on Arden Grange Puppy/Junior and Burns Mini Bites

Mine both came from there Breeders with Beta,so we gradually weaned them over to Burn's mini bites, both did really well on it as puppies, they both love there food.
I've never fed AG so can't comment.

Re: Puppy Food

Oscar was fed Eukanuba. I'm in the process of changing to James Wellbeloved. He adores it and can't get enough of it. It's cheaper and they have several varieties; turkey, fish et.
