Re: just can't get the advice i need anywhere else!

Something similar happened to Willows nose and lip the other week and vet said to just bathe with salt water and keep and eye on it. The lip just cleared the nose scabbed up and then cleared.
Last year Willow was bitten or stung by something that caused a similar but not the same reaction, for that we had fuciderm cream
see if i can find pics hang on

Re: just can't get the advice i need anywhere else!

The first is the most recent one
It was really worrying because parts of her nostril actually broke away and I thought she wouldn't ever have a normal nose again But is is completely back to normal now

Thank you - it doesn't seem to bother him at all, doesn't hurt. i may try to bath it and see if it goes down in a few days.

Could it have been scraped on anything?? Koda gets grazes on his snout from over-zealous bone chewing!

Re: just can't get the advice i need anywhere else!

I don't think he could have scraped it on anything - he scrapes his nose ALOT, all the time pretty much but has never done his lip before, but it's possible! It does look like a graze of some sort.

Re: just can't get the advice i need anywhere else!

Lexi tried to eat a nettle (!!!!????) and her lip went like this. I just bathed it in a very diluted salt water solution and it cleared up on it own. Would like to say she hasn't tried to eat nettles since but unfortunately she has.

Re: just can't get the advice i need anywhere else!

Dixie gets that on her top lip when she has been biting the trampolene (don't ask ) so its when she has scraped her nose on something.
It scabs over then goes back to black again. Keeping cream on it is impossble, unless I was to tape her mouth shut! So just keep it clean every time it happens.
