british bulldog

Hi there.

Me and my wife have been looking at getting either a dog or a parrot a little bit of a difference between the two lol. The parrot is pretty much out of the question now. Due to the fact we both work around 8 hours a day.

What we wanted to know is will a british bulldog be ok on its own for 8 hours a day im thinking this will not be good for the dog. I have looked on the internet trying to find out more info but aint really found anything.

Any help will be appreciated

Re: british bulldog

8 hours is too long to leave a dog I am afraid. The only option would be doggy day care or get a doggy walker to come once a day to take doglet for a walk.

thank you for the fast reply . Doggy day care would be an idea did not think of that. I did not think it would be a good to leave a dog for that amount of time. Looks like i will have to wait till i retire lol.

Re: british bulldog

There is no way I would leave a dog for 8 hours... your asking for problems.

I'm lucky - I work from home, plus my other half is back and forth all day.

Re: british bulldog

Hi there,

What a great choice of dog, however, wrong decision if you are planning on being out for 8 hours Im afraid.

Bulldogs are house dogs, not kennel dogs, and are almost human in some of their behaviour and believe it or not do get emotionally upset if they do things to upset you. If you tell them off they get upset with themselves as they like to please.

They thrive on human company and cuddles and I would hate to think of a Bulldog sat on their own for that length of time.

We own two Bulldogs but we work opposite shifts for the simple reason we have two dogs that need us so I wouldnt recommend it.
