I agree, if you are negative about it she will get even more worried because of your rejecting her appeasement.
I think ignoring and redirecting the behaviour are your best options, so either leave her presence when she does it or get her to do something else that is incompatible with licking. Some breeds and individuals are more licky. I am fortunate that it isn't a common trait in my breed, but They are a confident independent breed. My big laddette of a girl though loves to lick feet. I like ti too, but my kids if they catch me letting her do it go spare |

i'm just going by what things iv'e tryed and what things have worked ![]() Hav'nt tryed water spray with ozzy yet for his licking but i have tryed it on my others with sucsess in a few probs, I Think i still will try with oz coz he is deffo a very confident dog, to confident infact lol which is'nt a bad thing . What ever you try, Good luck coz i know how the continuous licking can get to ya, Spcially when they have bad breath with it lol. |

Water spray for some dogs is great fun, and they love to catch the water, so it does depend on the dog. Same as a rattle can, would freak some sound sensitive dogs out. Works great to get mine quiet quickly when they get excited at the advent of visitors. |

Re: Annoying!
I have had my dog Bonnie for 11+ years now and she just can't stop licking either i have treid everything going and have just come to the coclusion a firm no and persaverence may pay-off one day. She's a very confident little pooch but you can see it in her face when you pet her she just can't resist licking it's like a drug to her. Be it wet legs/feet coming out of the bath or just a hand saying hello she just can't resist and she is old so her breath honks, have treid allsorts for that too, to no avail. Its like theres a vioce in her head saying "MUST LICK,MUST LICK". I treid the bottle/niose/and water thing over the years and she just stayed in her bed and sulked was miserable and became bit of a recluce yet still when you petted her she still licked.
You can't help but love them for their quirks but your right it's VERY annoying! Am still working on it now, and am ever hopeful that one day i'll say no and it'll actually sink in. But with her being 11+ i know my chances are slim, but i love her regardless........ Stinky breath over active tongue and all. x |
