Stray dogs !!

While out this morning we encountered a stray dog , Male , un neutered , looked like a staff cross abouth the size of our labs , at first our girls gave him a wide birth and we carried on walking so not to allow any prolonged interaction as we didnt know its temperament .

All seemed fine Daisy had a bit of a sniff so did Jess all dogs were wagging tails including the stray .
Further round on our walk we saw a lady we know with her 2 dogs both sweet natured being followed by this stray she was chatting telling how she had seen this dog several times and how 2 days ago she had to phone her husband to help her get home as this stray kept following her , this conversation took 20 seconds before i knew what was going on the stray had approched Daisy and with no provocation went for her .

I was lucky the O/H was with me he kicked the dog and i hit it with the leads to scare it off Daisy yelping big time , it took a few minutes for the dog to clear off it kept circling round we all stuck together shooing it away .

Luckily Daisy was not hurt i think it shocked her more than anything she ,didnt even retaliate , instead sat shaking till the coast was clear .

Apparently the RSPCA had been called twice last week about this dog being a pest to others and both times no body turned up , you cannot anymore take them to police stations to hand in , infact the police dont want to know so why is it when a warden is needed you can never get hold of one , It breaks my heart to see them wandering the streets but given todays events i think i may think twice about attempting to take it in myself as i had done with another stray about 6 months ago , that was a different story he was a lovely dog looked like he had escaped but he had no collar and was not chipped , he was re homed quickly by the RSPCA .

My fear is when im on my own tomorrow in the park what do i do or who do i call if this dog attempts to start again , short of giving it another dig which im not proud of having to do but if im not going to get any joy from the warden who is then responsable .

Oh Andrea

How upsetting...im glad Daisy was OK....its a shame that the police wont take them in but you never know what you would be taking on with a stray like that.

Hope you dont meet the angry dog again

Re: Stray dogs !!

really sorry to hear poor daisy was attacked like this...the poor lil luv x

i think its discusting that this dog has been reported on a few accations and still nothing is done.

i wonder wat they would do if someone wass to capture it and then ring them??? coz i recon thats wat will need to be done in the end, coz the bloody wardens dont seem to give a shyte these days....some member of the public will in desparation end up capturing this dog to stop it attacking.

it could of hurt daisy

Re: Stray dogs !!

We did notice her mouth bleeding but we were not sure if this was due to the dog or due to wrestling with Jess and a big stick just after ,she is ok now though i gave them both a juicy lamb bone when we got back . I,l have my eyes open tomorrow i can tell you its a farely open plan park with not too many hidey holes so should spot him , if i do i,l get on the phone and say its already attacked my dog today and make sure they send someone . ( she hopes ) .

i know its not the dogs fault..but at the end of the day, we have to think of our own dogs safety.

Re: Stray dogs !!

Yes i,m going to get the number before i go out tomorrow so if i see it i can call them straight away . It has a collar on so it may be an escaped dog even so it doesnt seem to have any manners and needs to be caught .

so if it has a collar on and belongs to someone who finds letting it roam free is acceptable, then them owner seriously need warning..that dog mite seriously hurt a dog, or even corse a car accident.
