Agree with you here Nina - all good breeders realise that something must be done, have always realised this, and have been working towards eradicating bad traits caused by bad breeders for a good number of years. Unfortunately, there will always be bad breeders.

I disagree with you here Nina. The initiatives the Kennel Club has in place for the welfare of all dogs - pedigree and non-pedigree alike, have all been there a good number of years before this program was aired. This program has done nothing for any breed of dog.

Re: Breeds/KC/suffering

Hey, don't be so defensive - I only have experience of the breeds we have had in the past - I've heard of the Puli, but not the Bergamasco which is why I asked. Wooo will be more wary in future - and I'd been wary about posting before after what I'd read when joining here - first instincts are probably best heeded

They are different dogs, although they are both sheep dogs - the Puli is from Hungary and the Bergamasco is from Italy. The Puli is smaller than the Bergamasco - its size ranges from 37-44cm, whereas the bergamasco ranges from 54-62cm. The coats are different as well - the Puli's coat is corded, whereas the bargamasco's coat is a flat felt. I don't know much more about Pulis, but Tashi does and will be able to tell you any info you want to know. On the other hand, I'm an expert on the Bergamasco - so ask away if you have any more questions!

Here is a pic of an adult Bergamasco

And here is a pic of an adult Puli
Attachment 10032

Can you see the difference in their coats?

Same here, it's getting very tiresome. I didn't see ANYTHING wrong with Spellweavers post either, seems some people are hell bent on taking offence to anything they can find.
