Liz nothing personal. As I have said I simply address the issues in a post.

Good luck with the pups. I really do appreciate your making the most of a bad job now

My comments are more aimed at trying to ensure the next person does not make the same mistakes.

Sounds like our breed club membership.

I tend to advise people to seek breeders that belong to their breed clubs, as it is usually a mark of more than casual interest in their breed.

Also breed clubs will have stronger codes of ethics than the Kennel club have.

For example my own breed club among other things insists no bitch under two has a litter, and not more than 5 years for a first litter, and no more than four litters in her lifetime.

All breeding stock must be hip scored and hold a current eye test certificate. Fro research purposes the club are asking for breeders to have a kidney function test before each mating, as some cases of FRD have been found abroad.

Breeders must also take back their own breeding for re-homing. All pups must be registered etc etc.

Re: labrador puppies

I am one of those that comes across very harshly but as already stated by Sally and Brainless - once you have worked with rescue and seen just what goes on etc you do get VERY passionate about this subject - There are ways of getting a point across - granted - but when you have heard the same tale over and over again over the years you tend to get a little sick of hearing the same old thing and thats when my harshness starts.....
Anyway I too am very glad that this ones turned out good in the end - its this kind of thread that makes you sit back and think " Yea ok there are some sensible people in the world"
But I will not go about with rose coloured glasses on and think everythings rosey - when you witness some of these rescue cases it kinda makes you wake up to reality and fight for better!!!
I totaly agree with most breed club ethics but when it boils down to it the only one that holds any weight are the KC rules and regs and anyone can get away with breaking breed club ethics and the KC will side with them....its stupid I know but thats just how it works......I would rather be under the FCI
