Re: labrador puppies

It is a bit cold at this time of the year for them to be outside, they will be used to the warmth of your home, and will be a shock to the system. Calor gas heater is not suitable for pups, they may get burnt, or it may be knocked over and cause a fire.

Re: labrador puppies

Hi,
I agree. My dog's litter of ten puppies were born in my lounge and they are now seven weeks old and they still live in the house.I wouldn't dream of putting them in a shed! How can puppies be socialised properly if they aren't in a home situation? My mum bought a puppy last year from a breeder who kept mum and pups in shed up the garden and the puppy she bought is afraid of just about everything! Yes,puppies are noisy(especially when you have ten like me lol) But surely that must be considered before you decide to breed?

Re: labrador puppies

"mum and dad kc - pup not"

Don't understand that advert, the puppies can still be registered now even if the mother wasn't when she was mated.

I think you have upto a year to register puppies ???

She's saying the pups can't be registerd because the mother to the litter was under 12 months old.
The KC will not register a litter when the Dam is under 12 months old.

From there website:
Are there any restrictions that would prevent me from registering my puppies?

A. Yes, if any of the following apply:

Breeding and Sale of Dogs Act (seek advice from your local authority)
The dam has already whelped six litters, or
The dam has already reached the age of eight years at the date of whelping, or
The dam was under 12 months of age at the date of mating. If either the dam or sire are endorsed with progeny not eligible for registration (i.e. that there is a restriction on file at the Kennel Club that prevents any puppies from being registered). Please refer to your owner certificate if you are unsure, the endorsement will be clearly displayed.

So that makes them not eligible for registration because the mother was mated under 12 months old

Re: labrador puppies

It is way to cold this time of year to put puppies outside in a shed , I wouldn't anytime of the year , they need constant contact for socialising They need to know every noise around them , I wouldn't buy a pup that I know hasn't had the right start to life it's not fair on the animal , putting it through so much stress , and it wouldn't be fair bringing it into a noisy family especially with children how would the pup know how to react around them , sorry if this seems to upset anyone , If you don't want the noise or the smell or them getting under your feet then why have you let them to breed / and accidents can happen but you can from the age of birth to one year to have them registered, so why did the poor female get mated so young because it sounds like to me she was young herself , and her body wouldn't of fully developed , which I've seen a few dogs that have been mated to early and they havent fully grow as there body had to take in account that it had to aid the developement of the pups growing inside,

Please don't put these pups in the shed , your get ill pups , , not use to the outside world of family life.

Not only that but no health testing has been done.Labs should be hip scored & hold a clear eye certificate.

Re: labrador puppies

the answer to your questions are .
why...because they are a big litter and need the room.
the shed is a dry and safe place with daylight coming in so they are not in the dark.only at night time.
yes mum was young.but we went off what the last owner had told us that she had a season.
she was checked out by the vet.
im sorry if you disapprove but im just trying to make good a bad situation.
