(Turkey) World Animal Day !

'On 4 October 2008 World Animal Day, people from all around the world will come together and hold rallies in different cities to tell Turkey to stop cruelty toward stray animals once and for all. Period. Their counterparts will be holding a similar rally in Istanbul.

This will be one final warning to Turkey - unless the Turkish authorities start showing good will in the field of animal rights with immediate effect following World Animal Day, a global coalition of organizations will launch a new campaign for Turkey to be excluded from all international cultural, sporting and similar events, including all activities funded by the European Union.'

I struggled to read all of that because of the tears in my eyes

I really hope the rally helps stop this appalling behaviour

I have about 15 water tubs all over my town for the street dogs to drink out off and i go around every morning on my bike and refill them all up x and im hopefuly going to start getting some cheap supermarket dog food but I dunno how we are going to be able to afford it ..

I would just plain and simply work in an animal shelter but there isnt any !

I am hopefully going to be taking Jasper into a school near us soon .. for all the little kids and to educate them on how to look after dogs , depends wether or not the school will say okay ...

It really does get to me ! honeslty sometimes I dont even feel like getting out of bed .. like when I look into jasper eyes ( and he insists on trying to lick my face ) and I just cant understand how anyone could do those things to animals .. I really dont x

Have you thought about maybe trying to open your own rescue centre or getting something done in the community? I bet soething like that would be soooo rewarding

I have my Nan telling me to become a vet ( takes 4 years of Uni here .. but thats 4 more years of there being starving dogs on the side of the streets x ) and I will actually get a proper income and things like that but I want to work and help the street dogs more than anything x ( im only 14 years old right now lol so I cant really start my own rescue center just yet ) but my mum said whatever I chose to do she will support me x

Sorry I didn't realise you were 14

Your parents must be soooo proud of you. Most 14 year olds are too busy causing their parents grief and being selfish (I know I was 14 once ) yet you are obviously passionate about animal welfare in your area

I think the animals of Turkey will be lucky to have you around when you have finished your schooling, and what a great mum you obviously have

I look forward to reading all about you in the national papers in a few years time being the breakthrough in Turkish animal welfare
