Re: help anyone no about heart murmurs
Although I can't comment on Boxers as I do not know the breed, I do know that a lot of puppies can have slight heart murmers when they are small that correct themselves as they grow.
If your vet doesn't seem too concerned at the moment I would try not to worry. |

Re: help anyone no about heart murmurs
Heart murmurs in pups can be something or nothing. I would contact the breeder and make her aware of this info from vet firstly. Has your vet suggessted a Cardiologist referral for your puppy?
A murmur can be caused by numerous things within the heart. Keep an eye on the growth and energy of your puppy as this is an indication of weak heart.

Re: help anyone no about heart murmurs
I don't know much about Boxers or heart murmurs in dogs. I do knwo that they often close in children later on, depending on what is causing the murmur.
What I do know is the breeder should have known about this, or should be prepared to take the puppy back. (if it were me, I would probably want the puppy back) As the owner, I would at least want to investigate further. |

Re: help anyone no about heart murmurs
I had a Mini Schnauzer who lived to be 12 with a heart murmer, the only thing we had to be careful with when he had his one operation because he cut his pad badly, the vet had to give him a special anaestetic that enabled him to come round quicker than normal, don't worry puppies with heart murmurs sometimes grow out of them.

Re: help anyone no about heart murmurs
We had a Pomeranian who live 15 years with a heart murmur, just thought you might like to hear that.
Also I bred pedigree cats for many years and on occasion my vet has found a heart murmur when I have taken them for their first jab at 9 weeks, but by the second jab at 12 weeks it was no longer there. The reason I was told is that the muscles around the heart valve had got stronger as the kit had grown. Hopefully this will be the case with your puppy. I do believe Boxers can have heart problems though,so I would certainly have a word with the breeder. Good luck Mary x |
