Re: help anyone no about heart murmurs

Hi,

I dont know anything about heart mumurs in dogs but we recently discovered my daughter has one and hers is absolutley nothing to worrry about. A heart mumur is a very general term for a heart that sounds slightly different so if a heart usually goes boom boom boom a heart mumur may make it go boom boom swish. (sorry for the strange explanation this is just how the doctor explained it to me a neurotic parent at the time). So I should say if the vets not worried its nothing to be concerned about.

My Pomeranian was just like that 'boom boom swish' the swish is caused by the heart valve not snapping shut like its supposed to,thats how my vet explained it. The only worrying thing is that some lines in Boxers are known to have heart defects, so it would be worth keeping an eye on as the puppy grows.

Well I wouldn't be too happy with that to be honest. A good breeder should have all the puppies vet checked before she offered them for sale IMO.

Totally agree and also she should be willing to compensate you in some way if pup not going back. It may be nothing but then again it may become serious further down the line

I agree too. The first thing she shoudl have done was to offer to take the pup back and give you a full refund. Regardless of whether you'd have taken her up on her offer. The fact she didn't suggests what typ of breefder she is, and this worries me.

I fullly understand your reasons for not taking him back, and in your situation I might do the same, but you could be setting yourself and your children up for a lot of heartbreak in the future.
