What is Kennel Club and KC Reg?

Should it be something I need to sign sunny to?

I'm still learning about these things.

If sunny is kennel club registered you would have been told by his breeder, the kennel club is for piece of mind and has rules and guide lines for breeding etc.
I'm pretty sure you would have a pedigree for sunny aswell, did u get one? x

Re: What is Kennel Club and KC Reg?

Briefly the Kennel Club is a registery of dogs of all breeds including crossbreeds which can be entered on to the activity register.

KC Reg means the dog/pup is registered with the KC,it is by no means a guarentee of quality or your dog is from a good breeder.

Here's a link The Kennel Club

The Kennel Club - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
The Kennel Club ("KC") is a kennel club based in London and Aylesbury, England.

Founded on 4 April 1873, the club is the oldest of the world’s all-breed kennel clubs[citation needed]. It is the governing body for dogs in the UK. It was the first official registry of purebred dogs in the world, and its annual registrations in the early 2000s average 280,000[citation needed]. The KC is not part of the World Canine Organisation, Fédération Cynologique Internationale, as are most other countries' kennel clubs.

The Kennel Club’s best known event is the Crufts dog conformation show, held since 1928, which attracts competitors from all over the world. Crufts is held every March at the NEC, Birmingham. The Kennel Club also holds the fun dog event Discover Dogs, in London every November. This event features the Scruffts grand final for crossbreed dogs.

The Kennel Club divides dogs into 7 groups: Hound, Working, Terrier, Gundog, Pastoral, Utility and Toy.

The organisation has been criticized for disregarding the health of dogs.[1]. The Kennel club has defended its stance.[2]

No but all dogs that are sold as pedigrees are not, so the only way to make sure that they are is if the breeder you get a dog from has registered the litter with the KC.

As for your own dog if it is not KC registered the only way you could now do so would be to get in touch with the breeder and ask them . Sometimes you can find out who the dogs sire ( Dad ) is and who its Dam ( mum ) is and if they are also KC reg you might be able to get your own registered.

It is not neccessary to KC reg but IMO it is better that a pedigree dog is so as then you can trace its parentage , health checks etc to see that your dog is from good lines .

Re: What is Kennel Club and KC Reg?

You cant show your dog or register a litter unless your dog is registered with the KC. Apart from that it makes no difference except that you can trace your dog's ancestry more easily.
