Re: hand stripping spaniel

Sorry I cant help really but I would think it would cost a bit more than an ordinary clipping bucause of the time it takes. A friend of mine used to have Lakelands and she stripped her's over a few days.

Clipping does alter the coat although i started off hand stripping my spaniel but it became a mammoth task as his coat is so thick and curly when growing out. My dog groomer i use now did teach me how to had strip but i had to clip mine in the end. Clipping does make the coat a bit fluffy.

Re: hand stripping spaniel

I am sure at work(i work as a dog groomer but not my company) its about £7 more than a usual clip which would include a bath, nails and ears cleaned.
It depends, I would recommend phoning up the local dog groomers within your area and as for a quote. All the cockers I get, the owners prefer the clean shaven look with everything off.

An idea is to find a groomer like Sullivan did to show you how to handstrip your dog, I know the groomer who taught me does taster days, which usually leads on to a longer course for people to actually do grooming but I am sure he offers a service to teach you how to groom your own breed.
