Ok.... So here's my next question...

Hi all,

Most of you know I'm now training Monty in his crate. Leaving him alone 10 mins at a time several times a day, and then going out of the room.

Needless to say he's barking/crying everytime. However, every website/book i've read says don't go back in until he's quiet and knows that I set the terms not him. I've just let him out now and he's gone over the otherside of the room to sulk and sleep.

What happens when the 10 minutes are up. Do i enter the room with him barking etc and let him out or just wait (which i reckon could be an hour or 2!) until he stops.

So far, I've just been letting him out after the 10 mins but need your advice.

Thanks

Darren

hi darren...ok when you go back into the room, whether he is barking or not,let him out but ignore him..if you talk to him or play when you first let him out, he will think thats the way to get your attention.

Interesting...

The last 10 minutes in the crate has been good.

I teased him in with a treat and then shut the door behind him. I think he moaned for the first 2 mins and then just lay on the floor and was silent .

So, 10 minutes now... How long until the next time? I've read in a few books and sites this should be done several times a day.

Darren
