Fasting is healthy for any animal whether wild or domesticated, whether dog or rabbit.

When an animal is not well, often it will fast itself by not eating. This is nature.

Fasting saved this dogs life

Note: I'm not advocating anyone should fast their dog for this long, just trying to point out that it is natural, and healthy for a 12/24 hour fast now and then.
Well said, I choose not to "starve" my dogs but by no means is it an act of cruelty if you do, it's not done on a whim and there is justification behind it.

Re: Feeding dogs only six days a week?

I don't intentionally miss any feeds for my pets Duke has one meals a day split into a morning feed and evening feed.

I will say that there are times when I have to throw it away, in effect he chooses to miss meals not regularly but every now and again. I have interpreted this as he's gone off that type of food.

I bet there are lots of forum members where that has happened in effect they just don't need that meal at that time.
