Re: Rottweiler cross German Sheperd

I'm going be blunt here so sorry if I offend you but perhaps if you believe the horror stories then anything with Rottweiler in it is not really the dog for you.

Why are you going for a cross breed and not a pedigree? Have the parents been health screened? I'd definatly want to know the hip scores of both parents as both breeds can suffer with dysplacia.

hi

no you dont offend me, and no i dont believe the horror stories in the press i believe any dog can be nasty if not trained/loved/exercised etc properly and i've been reading about HD in these breeds and this is definately something i need to ask the breeder as for why i've gone for a cross there is no pacific reason just liked the dog

thanks

Re: Rottweiler cross German Sheperd

I wouldnt be worried about the "horror stories" a dog is a dog and if brought up correctly and socialised properly then there's nothing to worry about.

My Aunty has a GSD/Rottie (from a rescue centre) and she is the sweetest of dogs, very gentle and affectionate.

GSDs can be pretty nasty also in the wrong hands, not just Rotties

ROTTIE AND SHEPHERDS HAVE GOOD NATURES TO THEM,
if you take it to training classes and socialise it lots you will be fine,
all these stories are idiot owners who basically never socialise or trained the animals properly.

ive known lots of rottie / shep crosses and all have been well behaved and good at commands.

Re: Rottweiler cross German Sheperd

hi,
like it has been said make sure you get it out to classes and socialised with other people/dogs as soon as you can. I'm sure you will be fine, after all you choose this dog for a reason

as for the 'horror stories' blame the deed not the breed hun, thats what i always say

good luck and will await pics of the little pupster.

x

Re: Rottweiler cross German Sheperd

hi and welcome to dog chat, if you have not had a dog before of this breed i do have to agree with the other post that its not really the dog for you, i had a rotti for 11 years and sadley had to have him pts in march, they are fantasic dogs so are GS but a word of advice take him to classes and train him dont let them get away with anything they are a very easy dog to train but are very head strong and if they think they can get the better of you they will good luck.
