This is a new one on me, could be a bit high in protein though

Re: Best dog food...

We raised our litter on James Wellbeloved and had no problems. On talking to one of the new pups owners they had a few problems getting the pup to eat so tried several brands but pup got on best with Burns.
I think it maybe a case of waiting to see what pups are like when they settle.

The protein really isn't an issue as it comes from quality meat sources and not cheap grains as in many foods.

I personally think it is, it depends on the breed of dog and how active it is. I would never feed a small toy dog a very high protein food for instance, they dont need it. Neither does a larger dog if it doesn't have a very active life. Of course thats just my opinion, no doubt others will disagree.

Yes I think that is one of the best, my cat eats nothing else, and when I was breeding the cats they were all fed it. What I like about it is all the defferent varieties, something for all.

Royal Canin and Burns are very good quality for those who want to feed dry food.

Well it's not done him any harm, in fact it's been a brilliant change that has had immediate results so they must have got something right with all the testing.

It's a common misconception that protein is bad because commercial foods have been filled with low quality ingredients for many years. It's the carbohydrate content that should depend on how active the dog is. Canines cannot dispose of unused carbohydrates and so they are stored as fats. I've known toy breed lap dogs that have done brilliantly on a raw meat and bones diet which is obviously high in protein.

I'm not talking about the quality of the product, just thier diabolical way of producing it. I wont use it on principle.mad:

Me either, its appauling how these poor dogs/cats are being treated all in the name of research. I won't be lining the pockets of a company who can treat animals like this.

I think after much research we're going to go with either Burns or Royal Canin, and see how the pups do on them, if not so good we'll be back to the drawing board and try to find something that can eat. But we'll see next Friday when we bring them home
