Leads for mountain walking

Hi there everyone.

This is my first posting, last year we found some great leads in the US, they were made of a thickish nylon rope, a couple of metres long. The lead was looped on it's self, so you could have it pulled tight and use a hand grip and open it right up and put the lead around your waist, which was great for hill/mountain walking our 2 Rottys hands free up the Beacons!.

We have lost them somewhere and I was wondering if this type of lead sounded familiar to anyone? And if you knew where I could get them? I have been to Pets at Home and they have thick nylon rope leads but the grip is fixed to a short hand grip.

Many thanks,
Andy.

ah sadly thats not it, it wasnt a Halti, it just clipped onto their collars. That lead looked a bit thin too, not thick nylon rope.

Do you just mean hands free leash that goes round your waist?

If yes, a few options:

Hands Free Leash

Canine Spirit Dog Boots, Dog Coats, Dog Life Jacket, Dog Packs, Dog Harnesses, Dog Beds and other Dog Accessories

The Buddy System

The one i've got clips straight onto their collar, it is just showing u it can be used with a halti head collar, there is two different sizes, the large one is very thick, and strong.

Ah ok I see.. thanks for your suggestion but I have actually managed to track down the leads from the store in the US we bought them from. They are made by a company called Timber Wolf and they are very good indeed here is the link: Timberwolf Pet Products: Leashes

We had 'The American Lead' and I can highly recommend it for hill walking with your dogs and jogging I guess.

Thanks again for your contributions to my posting.

Andy.

Re: Leads for mountain walking

Hi all, i'm new here. I have just foundthis thread because i am looking for a good lead for hill walking. I was just looking throughthe sites that are linked to above after reading this thread and noticed that the site the 'Hands Free Leash' links to has the timberwolf leads mentioned later, Timberwolf Alpine Lead with Clip so i thought i would join up and say so.
I also found this lead on there which sounds a similar idea Ruffwear - The Roamer Leash

Hope this helps.
