Re: Agility anyone?

I used to do flyball with Sidney but stopped because he was getting even more hyper and more ball obsessed!! He was starting to bite me after the races and was so focused on the ball that he lost all sense!! I have done agility with Tiz my staffie cross, unfortunately she cannot compete as she is quiet dog aggressive so it's just for fun, it's a shame because for a chunky monkey she's actually extreamly agile and enjoys it.

Doggie dancing? Not on your life!! Sorry but I hate it with a passion!

I do work my JRT and used to work my old mongrel, the JRT works with friends lurchers and greyhounds (they don't catch anything the sighthounds are muzzled) its all done to use their natural instincts and fun.

Re: Agility anyone?

Buster and Sophie do agility and they love it. We don't compete Buster would just stop dead in the middle of the ring or something knowing him and Sophies just learning. Silas hated it so he does HTM and enjoys that.

Re: Agility anyone?

I've tried agility, flyball and heel work to music with my older dog. I wanted to see which suited us best. Flyball was a no-no - he kept running away with the ball during training much to everyones disgust - heel work to music worked really well for teaching him tricks and keeping his attention on me, but I think we both prefer agility. I think he likes it that I have to work too and the exercise is good for me.

Re: Agility anyone?

I do agility with Ziggy, have been competing 3 years, and now in grade 6. We tried flyball, but Ziggy decided it was more fun to give the ball back to the person loading the box so she could catch it again! We only entered one obedience competition at a fun dog show but with proper KC judges, and won it! Tried sheep herding to see how much of the collie would come out, but the hiding-behind-my-legs part of her character came to the fore (bit of a relief as we live on a farm with sheep). I'd like to try HWTM but there's nowhere near that does it, and there's not time enough anyway. We do a few of the moves at home.

Re: Agility anyone?

I did agility, flyball and obedience with my old collie but she has now retired much to her disgust as she is nearly 17yrs but i still let her run over poles on the ground when i train in the garden so she feels part of it she hates retirement. I do flyball with Ollie collie and have just started agility with him and Monty and Ike a chi is trying agility but does it when he wants. My next dog i want to do obedience again as well as show. The rest of my dogs are x puppy farm dogs and they just want a sofa to curl up on a couple play agility in the garden over very small jumps if they want to

Re: Agility anyone?

I compete in obedience with Lyle and we've recently started taking agility classes we had our third lesson yesterday. Before that I've just tried a little for fun, but he's doing really well (he's really a natural) and I'm thinking of competing with him soon. I believe my dog would be a natural at doggie dancing as well, but I'm not so sure that I would

I also do some trackig with him and some other scent work. I also teach him tricks just because I think it's fun.
