Hi I'm getting a puppy in a few weeks and just wondering which is the best. A puppy basket or a Cardboard box.

what are your views and if a basket which are the best for a Shih Tzu?

When I got my last dog 19 years ago it was suggested I got a cardboard box as they feel more safer.

With our pups we gave them a nice comfy bed but put it inside the box it came in, with the top cut off, they chewed the box instead of the bed which is what we were hoping for.

I would suggest a comfy dog bed where he can have loads of comfy puppy naps. lol Just realized your in Manchester same as me.

For five star accommodation, give him a crate. If you get a collapsible one, that's his car accommodation too. He can have a bed a blanket/duvet or a cardboard box in it.

cardboard box is a safer bet we got a lovely wicker basket with lots of soft bedding in it and rain has chewed it to pieces, dachshunds are renowned for being destructive though

we dont have any baskets or beds for the dogs.
We have the crate with a duve inside and a lovely blanket in the livingroom

I would go with a crate as well, but with a small cardboard box in it to make a nice snug bed, I think it makes the pup feel more secure. As the he gets 'his feet under the table' so to speak, you can do away with the box and give him a cosy dog bed or quilt in his crate.

Ive heard that the Kudos bed are meant to be a bit non distrucable i know there water and flea repellent mot people just wipe them when they need it. Your could always put a soft blanket down and wash when needed. Will say though mine loved his card board box and i replaced it as needed.

I would go with a crate and maybe one of them oval plastic beds (they are quite tough for a young puppy to break anything off), or a puppy proof cushion.

Personally I wouldn't use a cardboard box if you have a chewer, it will just get chewed and maybe swallowed... well that's what Foxy would do if I wasn't in the room .

If you go for a plastic bed make sure it has some thing under it or has the cups as my dogs bed scratched or floor to pieces if he lept in to fast it use to shoot across the room
