Re: Help needed for my pup!!
Have you just got her? 6 weeks is very young for a pup to leave mum and litter mates they dont usually leave until 8 weeks at least. Itching and chewing the feet isnt normal. Fleas also dont usually affect the feet. Where did the breeder keep the pups and has she done it since you got her? Its possibly that it could be a reaction to a cleaner maybe the breeders used or maybe even one you have used. Other than that it could be some sort of skin mite. I would get her checked over by a vet. You need to make an appointment but as she hasnt been vaccinated I would book her in once you get there but leave her in the car until the last minute and carry her straight through to the consulting room to make sure she doesnt have contact with any other dogs in the waiting room. Then carry he out and put her in the car again. You never know what dogs in the waiting room are in there for and she will be susceptible to any infections especially as shes so young.

Re: Help needed for my pup!!
I got her two days ago, and she is six weeks old.
I have checked her out for fleas and cannot see any. I have used frontline spot on for puppies as told to by pets at home. She was kept in a shed along with the mum and the other pups, she seems happy in herself and is eating and drinking well. She looks as if she has dandruff? I am booking her in for a check over as soon as possible. Thank you for your help. Jemma ![]() |

Re: Help needed for my pup!!
I really would book her in and get her checked over as soon as possible. Pups skin should be healthy looking no dandruff. It could be mites. I think she could really do with a health check too certainly wouldnt do any harm. Dont forget though to keep her away from other dogs in the waiting room and carry her straight in like I said shes not protected with vaccinations yet.

Re: Help needed for my pup!!
Hi Jemma... Is she itching all over and is it just her little feet that she is chewing ?
Is she licking her front legs ? Only ask as itching chewing feet and licking legs usually relate to blocked anal glands Not sure if a puppy so young would suffer with blocked anal glands I agree about calling the vet and asking Hope you get your puppy sorted soon |

As you mention in your thread..........you can see what looks like dandruff? Can you see the dandruff all through her skin??? Did you notice this dandruff on the other puppies when you went to see your puppy???If the mother and her puppies were in a shed and it wasnt very clean they she may have Cheyletiella Mange which is also known as "Walking Dandruff"????? I cant be certain and say yes it is as that would be wrong of me to say..... you would have to take her to the vet to be checked over, they get walking dandruff from the mother of the dog and it is passed onto her puppies soon after birth as they feed and cuddle into her. IF this is what she have then it is contagious and needs sorting out NOW. The mother and puppies should be seen to aswell, if she does have it then you should phone the breeder and let her know that your puppy have it and she needs to get her dogs and puppies treated. This will cost a fair bit to get rid off. The advice my daughter had from her vet when her puppy had it was.............to take the puppy straight back to the breeder so SHE can treat all puppies and mother. It cost my daughter quite a bit of money for the baths she had to have and antibiotics too. I am NOT saying this is what your dog have got, only your vet can be 100% cetain, until then dont let your puppy anywere near any other dogs you may have. Have a read of this link. Hope you manage to find out what it is that is making her chew her foot. Cheyletiellosis (Walking Dandruff) in Dogs: Symptoms and Treatments |

Re: Help needed for my pup!!
She may be allergic to what you're feeding her. Did you change it from what the breeder gave her?
I'm going to say what the others have been too nice to say: you were wrong to take her so early from Mum: puppies do best if left as long as possible with Mum and 9 weeks is much more suitable. What kind of breeder would allow you to take a baby so early? I can understand if you don't have the experience, but the breeder should have been much more circumspect, even if they had no clue: they should have checked the best thing to do for these puppies. Have you taken her to see the vet?

Re: Help needed for my pup!!
My dog has allergies and regularly bites at his abdomen and chews on his feet and legs even when his anal glands are clear.
I would take pup to the vet asap as with such a young pup I wouldn't leave anything I wasn't 100% convinced on.
