Re: Pet insurance

I would recommend a lifetime cover. Some of them will cover x amount for a certain condition but not cover it after 12 months. I went with pet plan, which is expensive (£33) but I think it's gonna be worth it, for peace of mind and should anything happen *touch wood*, Oscar will be covered.

Re: Pet insurance

I'm looking to change my insurance as after reading another thread on here I realised mine were only covered for 12 months per illness not a lifetime

I just recieved some info from Pet -ID insurance, as Lilly was micro chipped a couple of weeks ago, for their Gold cover I've been quoted 16.59 a month.

A quick guide is 5000 per condition, unlimited treatments per year, treatments for life, excess 50, and includes 3rrd party liability and over seas travel plus some other bits.

Has an one else used them? The cover sounds pretty good - but I had a good quote on my Car insurance and when some idiot wrote my car off it took 6 months to settle the claim and I don't want that to happen with my dogs.

Re: Pet insurance

I am with Tesco and have the lifetime cover with them however I have heard really really good things about petplan insurance.

The key thing with whoever you go with is to make sure you can afford the excess at any point you might need to and that it covers you for a lifetime

Re: Pet insurance

Some good points raised - I, *cough* sorry my owner had never thought about some policies only covering me for 12 months. Also, it is worth considering the excess as if you do have to cover you don't want to have to stump up a wedge of cash!

Re: Pet insurance

I have 3 dogs and unfortunately one has hip dysplacia so we would be lost without pet insurance. We use Pet Plan who are great. They have never queried a claim despite her bills now being in excess of £10,000 and growing. Our other 2 dogs were on M&S but they increased our premiums by a huge amount this year despite us not claiming on them. Pet plan didn't increase theirs. You need to ensure the policy is for life and renews the amount each year. Some say they are for life but after the limit is claimed they won't pay out anymore. I would recommend pet plan or a company that specialises in pets only.

Re: Pet insurance

i am with tesco insurance and i was searching on net for a cheaper one and noticed that a new policy with tesco was cheaper than my old one. i called them and asked why i am paying more and he said "your policy increases each year you are with us. it is cheaper cancelling the old policy and taking out a new one each year!!" i have been with them for 3 years and have had a small increase each year. so i asked if they think that is the way to repay customers loyalty and the cheeky git said that it is only a couple of quid and if i cancelled there would be someone else to take my place so they werent bothered!!!!"mad:
