Re: is this a Pit bull?

No it's not a pitt, looks like a sbt cross or a badly bred sbt to me.

I'm also wondering why the OP asked when it states SBT cross

Re: is this a Pit bull?

Red with red nose does not equal a pit bull

Plus my understanding is Battersea run all potenitally type dogs via the police breed id expert and any type dogs...well, a pit bull with no owner to stand for it, dies. Battersea have no regged dogs so doesnt take a genius to guess what happens to many dogs there.

I agree with Alison, i think you were seeing the red nose and thinking PBT (jusy colouring of one of the parents), and I'd agree with all others with the SBT X

Ah right ok! thanks for that!

I wasn't totally sure. I had heard that they were banned, then someone told me they are "banned" but you can have one with a special license and you have to make sure they are insured, muzzled at all times in public places, spayed/castrated etc. Musta been aload of bullsh*t lol!

I heard about that "special licence thing too" but as far as I am aware no pitbulls are permitted at all..

Yes they are banned but it doesn't stop idiots getting hold of them and breeding from them even though it is illegal under british law.
The special license you a talking about is certification of exemption which can only be granted through the courts. The Index of Exempted Dogs closed in 1991-it is not possible for a dog’s owner to take their own steps and register their dog, in order to bring it within the law.

The only way a dog can go on the Register is by Court order.

There is no provision for an owner to make an application to a Court themselves.
Registered Dogs:
Dogs registered either back in 1991, or since 1997 via court order have to comply with the following requirements (within a designated time) in order to obtain a certification of exemption:

* Neutering * Micro chipping * tattoo inside rear leg * insurance cover.

Compulsory muzzling and leash in public places:

Registered dogs have to be muzzled and held on a lead by someone over the age of 16yrs at all times when in a public place (which includes inside your vehicle when it is itself in a public place e.g., on the road).

A registered dog’s muzzle cannot be removed at any time when in a public place, if it is - a criminal offence will have been committed.

Owners cannot remove the muzzle to allow their dog to drink or eat if in a public place.

Even if a registered dog is being sick and chocking – there is no defence for removing its muzzle.

For this reason, owners of registered dogs have to take special care to safeguard their dogs welfare; especially where dogs may be ill, have a medical condition e.g., epilepsy, or in the case of older dogs and during hot weather.
