Re: with friends like these who needs enemies?

Thanks for posting that was a very good interesting read.

The two people concerned were on another forum a few months back, one was the owner of the dog,the other the childs mother who still maintains it was a bite.
I didn't make an assumption because I wasn't there,I didn't know the full facts but the mark/cut on the childs face to me was consistant with a sharp nail from a paw not a bite.

No of course we dont know exactly what happened. What is true is that there was a tragic accident but even if you look past all of the issues surrounding the court case, should anyone recommend the destruction of a dog they have not seen? As Ryan writes, if it was your dog or my dog? Wow, it would break my heart.

Personally Id like to see MS Fearn working as far removed from animals as possible.

Yes so would I,Without seeing or accessing the dog you can't possibly give an opinion.
If it was my dog I would be extremely angry, upset and heartbroken and I would have also appealed and done what this owner did.
I'm so glad they got there dog back.

Re: with friends like these who needs enemies?

That is terrible, how on earth can someone who is "in" the breed say such a thing about a dog, especially one she hasn't met.... She can't think much of the breed.

What hell that poor Rottie and his owner must have gone through because of a mere accident, and they do happen.

It is something that has worried me for years as I have German Shepherds. Years ago no one gave me a second look when I was out with my dog, but these days I get filthy looks just for walking down the road!! All my dogs have been well socialised from day one, but I still worry that someone will say one of mine bit them or looked at them in a way that caused them to feel they were in danger and I will have the police wanting to take the dog away... Though I am afraid I wouldn't hand any of my dogs over to anyone.

Years ago my hubby and I went to see a litter of GSD's, hubby was playing ball with mum while I was cooing at the pups. Next thing we know he has blood running down his finger, simply because as he was taking the ball from mum she bit it and caught him, a simple accident. People these days would have her incarcerated under the damn dangerous dogs act!

Thank you for posting that. Yes, simple accidents do not occur any more do they?
Very glad to hear that justice was done, eventually. My heart goes out to the owner and well done the expert who outed the situation.

Re: with friends like these who needs enemies?

That was very interesting thank you for posting it so glad the owner got him back safe, i worry as we have 2 GSDS i never let them out in front garden as people cross the road, when they see them, accidents can happen i was playing with one of my pups with a tug rope and he came to get hold of it a little to near my finger and his baby tooth caught my finger i had a slice in it and had to attend hospital i never told them it was my 9 week old puppy just playing with a tug rope i was to frightened they might involve the police, its a sad world these days for dogs, when your afraid to do anything or go to near to anyone in case they say they felt threatend, we rarly walk our dogs where we live but take them out in van and then walk them most people in my village hate big dogs , we have been told in the past we should not have got gsds but jack russels , i wont repeat what i told them.

It is a worry and theres nothing to stop this woman giving her opinion again. This case was very lucky in that the right people where involved and dealt with it but more often than not this goes on undetected.
