Transporting an 8 week old puppy within the UK. Options?
We're due to pick up a new puppy next month, but we're having to travel a fair distance to get him. That then begs the question, what's the least-traumatic way to get them back home?
At the moment we have an estate car with a large boot and dog guard for our other lads, but would a large dog carrier make the puppy feel more safe & secure? I'm looking at a possible 8 hour drive, so there would have to be frequent stops and lots of fresh water, but I was just wondering if I'm missing a better option? Thanks, Mike. |

Re: Transporting an 8 week old puppy within the UK. Options?
I would use a small crate and line it with firstly lots of newspaper (accidents) and then lots of towels to keep him still and comfy. I would put it on a backseat with somoene sitting next to it as they are sometimes sick if it is their first long car journey.

Agree with this - would just add have lots of stops for cuddles and reassurance. And make sure the car is well-ventilated if it's warm.

When we picked Duke up I took the large pet carrier newspapers and a towel.
We put the pet carrier on the back seat and I sat in the back too, I was stroking him and talking to him till he fell asleep. Sue |
