Re: Reaction to your dogs
When we had Stitch the stb x ebt people would move out of our way and have worried or disaproving expressions on their faces.
Now we have Pippin who is a Toy Poodle X King Charles Cavalier, and people smile at us from across the street, want to play with her and cuddle her and think she is lovely! Its mad though as many of you have said, as Stitch was affectionate and wanted cuddles too and no one did that. Whereas just because Pip is small and fluffly, she isnt necessarily well mannered and could be a little nipping diva in disguise! People have the same attitude towards other people though as in stereotypes...fat people must be lazy, skinny people are hurling every two seconds and anyone 16-20 must be doing drugs! Our world is defo a mad one |

Re: Reaction to your dogs
I get exactly the same re-action some will avoid him even change direction to avoid him. I try to read peoples body language if I detect they are concerned I walk Duke on the grass verge and have him wait until they pass.
Unless of course its a bunch of louts I take great delight in walking straight through them its like the parting of the sea. I get comments like nice dog, but you can fair hear the gulp. What really tickles me is young children - no fear straight in for a cuddle. Duke drops to the floor and enjoys the pampering. We were once at the coast and two elderly ladies were passing I was sat on a bench and yes Duke was also on the bench at the side of me both ladies were really taken with Duke one lady cupped her hands around Duke's face and kissed him right on chops. Now that did shock me, I do it to him all the time, but I wouldn't have enough confidence in your dogs to do that.I get a wide range of different reactions, and different ones again when I have my grandson with me. Daggers looks I can cope with but I have actually had rude comments directed at me. Sue |
