The Only Reason I Have Been Using Pads Is That When I Got Him, He Hadn't Had His Jags Yet & Thats Why He's Only Been Allowed Out The House For 8 Days (2 wks after his last jag).

Oh right I see! I do remember someone mentioning you don't have a garden?

If so, I can now see why you used this method. Sorry, I didn't know.

Again, I hope someone can point you in the right direction with this... good luck.

Re: Puppy Peeing/Pooing Everywhere.....PLEASE HELP

It sounds to me like the puppy is insecure about being away from home, and that is why he won't toilet outside. 'In the wild' if a dog went to toilet, it could attract preditors, and dogs do still have this instinct to varying extent.

I would work on getting him to feel secure outside, just pop out with him for 10 mins at a time at first, frequently. Staying otu for longer will only make him feel insecure.

If ther eis anyway it is possible, I'd make up a kind of litter tray using some turf, or failing that, mud, in the house, so the pupcan get the right idea of what kind of surface he should be using. It will take a lot of watching him like a hawk, an dif you see him going anywhere else indoors, simply pick him up quietly, put him in the tray to finish his business, and praise, praise praise.

He will eventually get the idea, and when he finds the same sort of surface (grassor mud) outside, will recognise it, and once he feels secure outside, he will be more inclined to go out there.

Yep like jackson said i think he feels a bit insecure outside, has somthing happend to maybe scare him when he's outside? I'd take him out and make it fun for him to take his mind off being there by playing a game or 2, then he'll hopefully asscociate outside with fun and maybe relax a little

Hi
agree with all the above - also when you catch him mid wee or poo pick him straight up and take him out so he knows thats where he needs to go .. if you dont catch him you just have to clean it up and forget it as he will have done.

Also the crates are a godsend - a pup is unlikely to do it in their bd so will cry to be out and you can take him and reward him - careful its not too big though as he will do it in one corner and go sleep in another

I know how you feel, my 14 week old puppy does the same as your puppy. Its very very frustrating. I hope you get luck soon as well as me. i think we need some luck lol X

Do you not have any outdoor space at all with your house? If not then house training is going to be very hard. I understand that it will not always be possible to take pup outside every 10-20 minutes if you don't have any outdoor space, especially with kids.

It's too late now, but I do think an older dog would have been more suited to you.

14 weeks is still very young to get the hang of housetraining especially as you dont have a garden,it will come with time,i have a jack and a min pin, they wont toilet whilst on leads,do you have a safe area to let your pup off lead
p.s. 3 hours isnt to long for a jack pup, little monkeys have loads of energy

Re: Puppy Peeing/Pooing Everywhere.....PLEASE HELP

Stella took a long time to become fully housetrained. She was about 7 months old and we were begnning to despair then one day she just seemed to get the hang of it. Now she will look at us and if we say "do you want the toilet" she knows what it means and if she does she runs to the door. She still doesn't cry to go out.

Also it was a long time before she would go for either pee or poo when out for a walk. She used to wait until she got home and go straight into the garden and go.

Now she never has an accident in the house. She is so good. Persever and it will come good.

She has been sick on the landing tonight though. Think as a result of digging up and eating a chew that she buried in the garden a couple of weeks ago. Chews and biscuits get hidden everywhere - tucked in the corner of the stair, in the cat litter tray and even in our bed!
