Re: Puppy Peeing/Pooing Everywhere.....PLEASE HELP
I Leave Dried Food Down But He Doesn't Eat It All. I Also A Have A Dog Cage With A Big Bed In It But I've Never Had To Use It As A Cage, Just A Dog House For Him & He Loves It. He Is A Great, Happy Dog Thats Why I'm Puzzled. Also He Loves Being Outside With Other Dogs. He's Not Shy, Timid Or Scared In Any Way.

I wouldn't be leaving food down all day.You wont know if he is eating any,so you wont know if he is off his food, and if he is grazing all day there is no regularity. Take his food up and offer it to him 3 times a day (cutting down to 2) at regular times. If he doesnt eat within 15 mins pick it up. Outside as soon as he has eaten or had a drink, water down all day,as soon as he wakes up outside, and after any play/excitement outside. Consistancy. Dont scold him if you find he has done anything as he will not associate it with him doing it,but will associate the pile with being told off,and you dont want him eating it -come home to a nice clean kitchen, pup runs up for a snog and washes you with a dog poo tounge - |

Re: Puppy Peeing/Pooing Everywhere.....PLEASE HELP
You say you go outside with him but he doesn't go, then comes back in to do it...
When you go outside with him you will need to wait, until he does go... even if it takes a while. If after a while he still doesn't do anything out there, bring him back in and keep a constant eye on him, keeping your eye out for any of the toilet signals. If he does give the toilet signals (sniffing the floor and/or circling etc) take him back outside and see if he goes. You just gotta keep trying, I know it's hard work... but it really does take time and alot of dedication to get a puppy toilet trained, and to toilet train quicker takes even more dedication. You need to be taking him out at least every hour to relieve himself (even if you think he doesn't look like he needs to go). The more opportunities to relieve himself in the right area is good. Are you teaching him a command word? I think this is a good idea. Foxy has learnt a command word to go for a wee, so now I just say the word and she does it... which makes life easier! As everyone else says, you also need to reward him and praise him lots when he does do it in the correct place. If he does do something indoors, just pick him up and move him to another room or outside and go back and clean it up. Don't punish him, or shout at him. Just move him away and ignore him. If you manage to catch him in the act, say "No" and quickly pick him up and take him out. I think the odd person is lucky to have a puppy so quickly "toilet trained" but to be honest, I think it does take time and alot of work. You need to keep a good eye out on young puppies, otherwise before you know it you find them peeing or pooing where you don't want. |

Thanks For All Your Tips.
I Am Just Back In After Taking My Puppy Out For A Little Walk He Did The Toilet On The Floor Before He Went Out But Took Him Out Anyways. He Didn't Do Anything While Out But When I Got Home He Did It STRAIGHT AWAY On My Carpet Before I Even Got My Foot In The Door. |

I do say that if you want your puppy to do it's stuff outdoor, you really should start training that way as soon as you bring your puppy home... not use the newspaper or pads method. Using newspaper or puppy pads at first, can cause problems... and many people say that it in a way is teaching the puppy it's ok to toilet indoors. If this is the case, I honestly don't really know a solution to be honest. Hopefully someone else can come up with other kinds of tips to get your puppy on the right track. |
