running with your greyhound

Sorry if this is already in a thread but i searched it and found nothing so have started new thread. Can you run with a grey hound like race it yourself, i am a sprinter and so wouldnt mind racing a greyhound, agreed i would lose everytime but it is still good training lol. Not sure weather if the greyhound would try and bite you like or attack you instead of racing. So looking for some feedback
cheers

LOL How bout I let my Doberman go and see how fast you go then.. ROFL

No really why would you want to train with a greyhound.. They would leave you standing.. Would be a bit demoralising knowing you will always loose..

because when there is something infront of you it motivates you more. Plus i really want a dog and it would be a good way to fit it into my lifestyle.

Re: running with your greyhound

You would prob be better getting one from a pup.. But I reckon most dogs would enjoy going out running..

When I am in lazy mode I get on my bike and pedal at high speed round the field... the dogs start chasing me then pass me.. prob is though they are always changing directions and often run in my path.. I have never hit one though But when they get going I can't keep up with them..

Re: running with your greyhound

If you want to run with a dog, most dogs will do that. And you can train them to run at your own pace. If you really want to run with a greyhound why not pop along to your local race track and see if you can join in?

hmmm, i duno about pups, i was thinking more about a retired racer, but when they are trained to chase the rabbit they look mad, with thier muzzles on and scary look as they try to catch it, i recon it would try that on me lol and it would catch me

LOL My mum has a retired greyhound.. They are sprinter.. I don't think they are much into running.. Her spends most of its time asleep on the floor.. Also I wouldn't like to let one of the lead as if they did see a cat or something you may loose it..

You may be able to adopt the dog your after.. Like I said most dogs enjoy going running.

Re: running with your greyhound

I take my retired racer lurcher racing which she loves but Ihave no were to free run them normally so I use the car park were I work at the weekends as itis securely fenced. The only time she has ever run there is when my son came down on his bike and I rode it round in circles she then followed the bike but didn't chase it just followed behind.
I think you wouldn't have much to worry about a greyhound bitting you you don't look a lot like a lure or a rabbit i would think and any way over 10 yd sprint it would be at the finish line before you did 50 yards
