canis behaviour is on a distinguished road
hi everyone

Hi everyone,

My name is James and I'm a dog behaviourist from the south wales area. This is my first ever post so I just wanted to introduce myself.

My mission is to train and help people understand what their dogs really want and get the dog back to it's natural, balanced state of mind.

NO prong collars, NO choke chains, NO E-Collars just the use of a regular lead and collar, oh and one more thing... My dogs!

Have a look at my website if you would like a bit more information on what I do.... Canis Dog Training

Thanks for reading
James

Re: Free advice from dog behaviourist

Hi there, I am sorry if you find this offensive but I find it very odd that a behaviourist is happy to offer advice WITHOUT seeing the dog, especially over the internet.
How can you advise accurately?
Personally I think it is potentially dangerous.

JMO though.

I like the website but you`ve forgotten to put your qualifications & experience on it James.
And mentioning Insurance and providing references might be an idea.

I was given some general advice for Luna online by a behaviourist. they admitted themselves though to make a better judgement they needed to see her. Shame they were in England!

OP which bit of Glamorgan are you in? Are you anywhere near Port Talbot?

I have to say i agree with this. General stuff like, lead pulling, toilet training etc maybe but anything agression based needs full assesment and you can only get that by seeing the dog and its circumstances Just my humble opinion

Anyway, big welcome to the forum and i look forward to your general input

Would love to know a bit more info about you qualifications and/or general experience/background.

Smile Re: Free advice from dog behaviourist

hi there all,

Thank you for your replies to my post,

I agree that with all cases of aggression the dog will have to be seen by myself for me to supply any kind of assessment for you.

The post was meant for general enquiries about dog behaviour such as puppy training, lead pulling, chasing the postman...lol. And just daily problems that you may want a little advice on.

Most of the cases that I see with dogs on a daily basis tends to be aggression related as that is usually a main concern from owners. But as with all serious cases of dog behaviour then the dog should be seen and treated as an individual case.

Ps. me and my dogs travel the whole south wales area so yes, port talbot is quite near

Re: Free advice from dog behaviourist

Brill I seem to be ontop of Luna's dog aggression now but I'll keep you in mind if I should (hopefully not though) need a behaviourist.
