Re: Collar Tag

My puppy was already microchipped when she came to us - part of the package from her breeder. To get it done it is about 25 holes I think. Pretty reasonable to I think.

By law it has to have your name, address and postcode on. Phone number is optional.

They can have it done at any age, mine where done at 8 weeks and 12 weeks. £20-25 is the usual price but a lot of vets do it half price if you get it done at the same time as their jabs.

Both mine were done at 10 weeks old at the same time as having their second injections. Not sure what we paid because we paid for a puppy pack with our vet that included jabs, worming, fleaing, health check etc

My dogs have a collar tag with just saying on it : "I have an microchip, please scan me."

U shouldnt put the dogs name on the tag as incase he gets stolen that would make things easier for the burglar.

I didnt put adress on it either as the burglar would know where i live and that my dog is not there to protect the house and me
By law you have to have your surname, address and postcode. The consequence of being caught without this is a fine of up to £5000!! Also if you do decide to train on the KC Good Citizens Dog Scheme, for all stages (puppy, bronze, silver & gold) you will fail these if that information is not on the tag.

Totally agree about not putting the dogs name on the tag..... I only ever put the dogs name on after they die and keep the tag

Re: Collar Tag

But this law is only effectiv in public places, where ur dog is supervised by u anyway and cant be stolen as easily.
But at home i would take off that tag and just leave on the microchip tag just incase.
Guess i better get a new tag done for the walkies

Re: Collar Tag

My 2 don't wear collars at home but are microchipped and have tags on their collars for when they go out.

Same here, we take collars off when they're at home, they only have them on for walks. It's quite funny when you pick them up and they're all trusting their heads at you to get them on!
