Re: HEEELP on puppy food

I second what DT has suggested. In your shoes I would be looking to feed wet to avoid any possible problems with dry. You may be ok, but if not you will end up kicking yourself and your little pup wont be happy either.

Mine was on dry successfully from pup till about 15 months. Then had a tummy upset and from bland food, I couldnt get her back to dry again. Every time I got to more than 50% her tum would play up.

It's definately made me look at dry in a different light and appreciate that there are some wet foods out there equally as good and easier on the tum

There's lots of different opinions on Jameswellbeloved it was said to have gone downhill in the last couple of years...but it's the only thing I can give Fizz becauseof her allergies, we went through all sorts including vet prescribed stuff then I put her on JWB and I haven't haven't seen a bald patch on fizz zince, it's fantastic for dogs with sensitive tummys and I ended up using if for penny too just in case Fizz had a crafty mouthful of pennys food.
I've been using it for Fiz for ages now, I also buy the jwb treats which are usually buy 2 get a third free in P@H, if they get bored of dry occasionally I always have a box of pouches in just to mix a little with the dry to make a change for them.

Re: HEEELP on puppy food

i bought a couple of the pouches for him because hes been on wet vet food so i thought if i miss it a little incase he wont eat the dry
good thing i did i put the dry in front of me this morning and he looked at me as if to say errrm.... i dont think so mother lol
so i jus put a tiny bit of the wet in as i was told its very rich ....
but for 69p a pouch i didnt mind getting him it if it makes him eat better!

so far he seems fine on the jwb and i hope it carries on .... seems like good quality food to me i know someone who feeds her wiemerana (cannot spell for toffee) on it because she has a sensitive tummy

ill keep u posted on how it goes

Re: HEEELP on puppy food

I had the exact same problem when I got Alpha (a Siberian Husky). When we brought her home she had diarrhea for a few days but we put it down to stress etc. The vet gave us some sensitive wet food & antibiotics & told us to gradually re-introduce her dry food. Didn't work, so now we're feedin her the sensitive food (Royal Canin chicken & Rice) & a handful of Hills Science Plan dry kibble & it seems to be working. As I live in Ireland the selection of food isn't great over here, so instead of messing about with different food, I just decided to keep her on the Royal Canin sensitive. At €2.45 a tin, the sensitive food ain't cheap, but I'd do without so my dogs don't have to!lol I recently decreased her to 3 feeds a day & she's stil pooing properly! Sometimes I give her boiled chicken & rice or raw mince just for a change & it seems to be working fine!

Re: HEEELP on puppy food

Sorry I'm posting twice, I'm on my phone! We tried Alpha on the JWB dry kibble & it didn't work. Can't seem to find the wet food over here-typical! I'm glad to hear that you seem to have found a happy medium with your little furball. Make sure you keep us posted & we want lots of pictures too! ;-)
