Chihuahua Mix Attacked By Coyote, Saved By Pit Bulls - Denver News Story - KMGH Denver

my question is, "why?" knowing that a Chihuahua will never have anything good to say about pitbulls, why save the little monster from a hungry coyote, who deserves to live as much as any other animal?
of course, there are sweet, friendly Chis but they are, it must be said, a LOT rarer than friendly, sweet pitbulls -
most Chis cannot bite higher than one's calf, but that will not stop them from biting what parts they can reach.

i cannot help but think that if there had been 50 or 60 Chis and one aged, rickety pitbull who hobbled due to arthritis and a coyote arrived, one of 2 things would be more likely than the pitty being SAVED by the Chis:
Scenario A, the Chis offer the pittie in exchange for themselves
Scenario B, the Chis eat the pittie - and later the coyote.

Hmm, have you been around many Chihuahua's??
That large a group of Chi's would of seen off the coyote then giving the Pitbull a darn good barking at to put it in its place then probably gone on to take over the town/city/state/country/world!!
They are exceptionally good watchdogs and you probably couldnt do better for home protection then a Chi and Pitbull combo. Nothing would escape the Chi's beady eye and the Pitbull would see off all intruders discovered.

I hate chihuahuas. Why anybody would want to keep one as a pet is beyond me. Guess Paris Hilton has the power, eh?

I'm also so very sick of hearing negative statements about pit bulls. "So it needs to be said that there’s some good (in pit bulls) and not all bad." What is that supposed to mean? That's like saying, 'so there is some bad in golden retrievers, not all good'. I for one believe that a lot of the aggression related incidents involving pit bulls are due to the way people treat that particular breed. The bottom line is that we don't treat a pit bull in the same way as say a labrador or a beagle. It's nature vs nurture and unfortunately, bad nurturing sometimes wins. I only hope that more good people will step up and give the thousands of homeless pit bulls a chance at a healthy life in a happy environment.

It was sad to hear the story about that child being attacked by his grandfather's pit bulls. I don't remember if the boy lived but the dogs were being kept inside the garage as well as inside a fenced back yard. Seems to me the man had more than he could handle and simply wasn't treating them right. In the end every one of the dogs had to pay with their lives for his lack of responsibility and respect. Enough said, some people just suck.

So how different would the wording have been if it had been 2 labs that had saved the chi mix? Hero labs shows what amazing dogs they are etc. But because it was pitbulls I guess there are some good things about the breed . Well done to those pits though

I agree with the above - my chi's would protect each other including my dads collie and do so on a regular basis - after all they are mini guard dogs (think alsations who have been in a HOT wash) - people who think they are delicate babies in pretty t-shirts are those who haven't been owned by one - my chi's make great intruder alarms as unlike my other dog who barks at everything when my chi's bark they do so for a reason and I know it will need investigating
BUT they would NEVER turn away from a member of their pack so any pitbull aged or not would be more than protected from a coyote if accompanied by a pack of chi's - but they wouldn't have to fight as they could ring for help on the mobile phone that they keep in the pocket of their gucci coat !!!
