Unhappy Rottweiler left behind

My neighbour has left a rottweiler in their house for six weeks plus, asking a 16year old to drop in on him.The lad hasn't been round for three days.I have a key and have been opening the back door so he can get out. And now I'm feeding him.The council and RSPCA are not really interested. The house is full of poo and he's chewed everything.I just don't know what to do,it's been 3 weeks and i'm so upset,He's a fab dog,he doesn't deserve this. Why do humans treat animls like objects. Thanks for listening, nobody else will.Sheila.

I'm not gonna go on about your sh*t neighbours, but thank god your there to look after the poor rottie. is your neighbour coming back?
if the rspca aren't bothered (and that doesn't surprise me at all) i'd be tempted to take him to a good rescue home and hand him in at least he'd be well looked after there. he must be going out of his mind with boredom poor lad.

Re: Rottweiler left behind

Thanks Paula. The neighbours are back in September. She's told me when she's learned her English she's going back to france so what happens to the dog then.Yes he's so bored and depressed, don't think quite he's 2yearold so he's bounds of energy, what a forgiving soul he is.If we get through to september I hope they dont take it out on him cos of what he's done to the house.I'd probably get in trouble if I took him to the dogs home.

The lad they asked to look after the dog is'nt related to them and he's had enough he's not bothered. The neighbours are in Italy and I've no contact with them. Theyve only lived next door for a few months.

Re: Rottweiler left behind

i can understand you being wary about taking him to a rescue place sheila. maybe you could ring one up and tell em that you've been in touch with the rspca and they were't much cop, the rescue may be able to persuade them to do somthing.
your neighbours can't think anything of him anyway to just leave him with the 16 year old, it doesn't sound as if he'd ever have any kind of good life with em when they come back. chances are they'll get rid of him when they see what he's done chewing wise anyway
