Re: Rottweiler left behind

So has the dog been rehomed.
I am not al lover of the RSPCA either after a short spell of volunteering for them. They are happy to get the money in but will put healthy dogs to sleep rather than employ a behaviourist or someone just to rehome them.
I am supprised at the attitude of the Rotti rescue though

Re: Rottweiler left behind

I'll just have to speak up for the Rott Rescues - they are absolutely flooded with dogs DAILY!!!! As far as I know there are only two Rott rescues that have charity status and they struggle like mad to help as many dogs as possible on donations alone and the rest are run purely by volunteers who give their time and own money to try to ease a dam that has burst. Even if they had a space for a dog they do not have any legal rights to enter a house and remove a dog.

I can understand that to a point if the dog has been left on its own for more than a reasonable length of time then they should have a legal right to enter a house and remove a dog. Unfortunately it appears it does work like that.

Owners should be heavily fined, part of the fine should go to the rescue centres to help with costs until the dog is re-homing, or something like a DSA. The owner has to pay whilst the dog is being cared for in a rescue centre. If only, it would make people think before buying or acquiring a dog in the first place.

Re: Rottweiler left behind

The RSPCA have the powers now to act, so there is NO excuse.

Contact them again, and if they still fail to act, try the local media. That should soon spur them into action.

Thank goodness that there are people in this world like yourself. Best of luck.

Re: Rottweiler left behind

What gets me is that they are soooo snooty about home checks and who their current dogs go to and then they can leave an animal in this situation with someone who clearly WOULDN'T pass their checks!!
