Question What breed is my dog?

Ever since we got our dog we haven't had ANY idea what breed he is.. We got him from the vet on Pulaski (before it closed) when we first moved to Germany. The vets said he was kind of like a jack Russell mix, but they were not sure. The previous people who owned him got him from a breeder in south Carolina where they docked his ears and tail. and all they told the vets was that he was a terrier. We got him when he was about 2 years old. He is a VERY good dog. He is very smart and very loving. It kind of sucks though because everyone loves him so they want to know what breed he is and we have no idea what to tell them. His name is Rocky He is NOT a jack Russell because we got a jack Russell pure bred from Ramstein yard sales and he acts NOTHING like him. Spike (the jack russell) isn't very aware and does some pretty dumb things (he will run into the glass doors in our house. I don't mean to sound mean. we still love him to DEATH.)

Here are some pictures:

Thanks a bunch!
please include pictures and such (backing up your opinion)

Looks like a Rat Terrier (Rat Terrier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) to me more than Jrt mix, cute though

Re: What breed is my dog?

Really? People have told me that he looks like a mini fox terrier, Yes, the breeder did that to him.. SO sad I feel bad for him. (his nubbin tail is ADORABLE though). I know JRTs are VERY smart it is just that spike is very young still.

His ears really do not look cropped, i'd be amazed if they were. Rat terriers have exactly the same style and shape ears.

Plummers only come in one colour to my knowledge and are stockier.

I think it's fascinating how many terrier breeds there are but all look kind of similar.

Re: What breed is my dog?

Interesting, that is what the vet told us.. They even showed us the form and all of his medical records, under breed they just put terrier (previous owners) and they also put that his ears and tail were docked/cropped.
