Question Hot scotty

My scottish terrier sometimes have a spot of around 10 x 10cm either on the back of his neck or back that get very hot, it can almost burn your hand to the touch. The rest of his body remains normal temp

Does anybody know what thats all about?

Re: Hot scotty

Need a bit more of an idea about his/her behaviour before you discover the heat.

Is it after exercise?
After eating?
After rest?
Does the dog pant when this is happening?
Does it lay in direct sunlight?
Is the place where it nowrmally sleeps near a source of heat?
How long does it take for the heat to disipate?
Is it the hair or the skin that is hot?
Does the dog have a collar on before or during these outbreaks?

Any behaviour clues will tell you or give us a clue to try and assist best we can, if all else fails, go to the vets.

Good luck.
