Regulars at “The Spotted Dog” Pub were very upset when the Landlord’s dog Spot was run over. They paid to have Spot’s waggy tail put in a glass case on the wall as a memorial. The Landlord was locking up and heard a scratching noise at the door. “That sounds like our Spot” he said to his wife and opened the door. In ran their beloved Spot who said “I went to heaven but was not allowed in without my tail so I have come back for it” The Landlord said” I’m so sorry Spot I am not allowed to retail spirits after 11pm"
