Re: hoover dilemma

I love our Dyson (which is about 4 years old now)! We've only ever had one problem, it completely stopped sucking. Sent it away, only to be told there was a PEN of all things, stuck inside. My sister admitted she'd been too lazy to pick it up whilst hoovering her room, and never expected it to actually go up! But for hairs, its neevr stopped sucking.

One of our dogs sheds very little. However our male sheds like crazy. And when we dogsit Oscar and Rosey (springer spaniel) they are really hairy.

Re: hoover dilemma

We had VAX - lasted about 6 months. Dysons seems to do the trick but have found the motor blows up after a couple of years.

Re: hoover dilemma

Hiya all

Sorry to drag up al old thread, I was actually thinking about this today after vacuuming the "labrador carpet" our spud leaves behind all over our wooden floors...

"Wonder how often other people have to vacuum up their dog hair, and what do they use as there really must be a better way"

Funny you should both mention Kirby cleaners, I used to sell those G5 models many years ago, was a ton of fun showing people them in their house's, and the amount of stuff it would pull out of peoples carpets, it was like every day was my first day at work...

A few times I would go to peoples homes and you could tell as soon as they opened the door that you were walkng into "The bukay" residence (Pronounced bucket) and they were really really house-proud, only to find that when you go over their immaculate carpets, that little black demo cloth would explode off the demo pipe with the dirt/fluff it would pick up in a matter of 20 seconds..

Those house's were always a full price sale, never ever negotiated...

Did you know, when I was selling the G5's, they were £1399 to buy, but if you haggled with them enough, you could by one, brand new from them, delivered next day, for £379... Sometimes lower.

The boss used to get them in from redditch for about £350 each. The markup on them was incredible, and the salemans commission on a full price sale was over £850.

Never forget my first sale, the guy paid cash on delivery next day, and £850 was mine!!

Anyway, sorry, nostalgia moment...

We use an old Dyson (the green cylinder one) at the moment, and have had it now for about 5 years maybe, and it really NEVER EVER lose's any suction at all, still as good as new, but its not so much the suction, but getting the lab hairs out of rugs... Is there an easy way other than just vacumming the hell out of the rugs?
