Good in theory but when we hit hard times our mortgage provider didn't help one bit. There's not a lot you can do without getting into more debt with stupidly high interest rates attached. We ended up borrowing from family to get out of trouble.

I agree, I have been unemployed for 3 months, I did contact Payplan (Debt solutions/mamangemement) who I have to say have been fantastic,but mortgage lender just said I'd go into arrears, in the end I have gone interest only, the loan and credit card are ignoring my letters of offer at the mo, so fighting them.

However, its not easy and often people bury their heads in the sand, I was lucky, my friend is a CAB volunteer and pointed me in the right direction, but even they weren't helpful at first.
