Re: Credit crunch affecting dog rescue

Sadly many of these people are left with absolutely no choice whatsoever.

I have one family who had notice to leave her rented house by her landlord, she fought it as she would be homeless, but in the end the landlord won, she had 3 dogs, she was desperate to keep them, she even said she would sleep in her car if she had to so she wouldn't loose her dogs. She tried all the letting agents in her area, spoke to the Dogs Trust and RSPCA who told her she would have to sign her dogs over which ment loosing them.

Her Rottie is going to a rescue to be rehomed, but with the help of a breed rescue we have managed to secure a foster home for her 7 year old Labs until she finds a landlord who will allow her to rent with her dogs, in the meantime she is sleeping around friends on couches!

We were lucky to find a person willing to foster for an undetermined time.

These people are left with no options and nowhere to turn, the council will put people in hostels or emergency accom, but again many have a no pets allowed policy.

Re: Credit crunch affecting dog rescue

I feel for these people I really do,We don't know of individual circumstances but if the rent or mortages are not paid then the Landlord or mortage company are without doubt going to take action.

I can understand why private landlords don't allow pets, same with rented caravans.

I don't want this post to come over as uncaring as it's not mean't to be and I feel for those concerned.

The advice I would give is if your getting into difficultly fiancally get help sooner rather than later.

Sadly in this case her Landlord gave her notice to quit as he wanted to turn his property into holiday lets.

In this case she started to try and get help 3 months ago but hit brick walls at every turn.

That's why maybe a charity or helpline needs to be formed for people in these circumstances maybe

It's awful isn't it.

I agree with you something does need setting up.
The councils and H/a arenot very helpful to people in this sort of situation either.

There is quite a bit. Firstly speak to your lenders they will quite often work out a plan to help see you through some hard times. They can reduce monthly payments, consolidate etc.

Also speak to independant finacial advisors and your citizens advise bueau
